To a very frequent and sometimes feared surgery belongs the extraction of “eight”. Tartar and its effect on teeth

A presence of tartar in the oral cavity precedes plaque adhering on the teeth. A dental plaque adheres to most of the tooth surface, especially around the neck, in the interdental spaces and gingival groove (space between the tooth and gum). The toothbrush is an effective tool to remove plaque. The right toothbrush should have a small working head, which enables better handling of the mouth and precise cleaning. It should be soft, as the stiff brush can damage the gums and expose tooth necks. The bristles should be trimmed straight. It is also important to realize that the more bristles are on the brush head, the less work it takes to clean the teeth.

The sensitivity of the gums and teeth

An increased tooth sensitivity is usually detected when eaten cold, hot, sour or sweet drinks or food. Stripping of the tooth necks (between the crown and root of the tooth) can be also caused by incipient periodontitis. The most common cause of sensitive teeth is actually a mechanical damage caused by poor dental cleaning technique, unsuitable tools (too hard brush), a lot of pressure on the toothbrush or the inconvenient tension of a mucous membranes and a frenulum in the mouth. Increased tooth sensitivity and gum also may indicate a dental caries. The increased sensitivity can also be caused by an old and inadequate fillings, a cracks or a holes on the teeth, or bruxism (clenching and gnashing of teeth).
